The Educational Edition of "Aerobeak Goes On a Ride"
Step by step Rules of the Game

and the pilot story The Blue Star of Peace.

Important notice: Please, after installing the game visit our web site www.aerobeak.com and obtain a valid registration code for the game. After you provide us with the Order ID which is the letter-number combination included in your order/purchase confirmation, like AER-EE-00000-00000, we will send you this code within seconds. This is the code you will need to write into the "enter code" box in the game.

The goal of our educational and violence free game is that you, the participant of a great adventure, may safely guide the magical parrot Aerobeak on his bike ride through five different locations of the dream world of the mystical Ninth Island archipelago. When you downloaded and installed the game and played it for the first time, click into this window with the mouse or with the stylus (depending on which operating system you are playing, on Desktop or Pocket PC). After the title screen you arrive at a "signpost screen" where all the menu items are listed, this is our "navigational" screen.

The Signpost

You will see "Start" on this screen, when you first start the game or when the level of difficulty changes. Otherwise "Start" will be "Restart" and the "Continue" menu option sign is activated. (appears in white letters)

When you stop the game, you are able to return to the exact location and game situation which you left by clicking the "Continue" sign. Be aware, when you leave the game open and walk away from it for a long time, you may run out of the time and cannot use "Continue", just the "Restart" menu option. In this case you have to restart from your last location or any location which you have already finished. The "Restart" menu option brings you to the map of the Ninth Island and over there you can choose your location. The "Continue" option is working also after you visited the other settings or ended the game. The "Quizzes Only" option offers a shortcut to the Milestone Games which are already in the Educational Edition of Aerobeak. Also you are able to play all these three great "games in game additions" separately. Built into the Educational Edition of Aerobeak, the Milestone Games include the "Abrakadots" game, which is a kids drawing challenge, also promoting eye-hand coordination. For both, youths and adults, 9Isles developed the "Welcome World", a challenging maze and the "Lava Tube", an addictive puzzle with a Hawaiian touch. 9Isles is developing future "Milestone Games" which can be purchased and played separately or added to the collection of the Educational Edition.

Scores

Click on the "Scores" sign when you would like to check both your's and the other player's scores.

Exit

Always end the game with the "Exit" sign on the signpost.

New Players

To involve more players (and thus increase the level of competition) you must click on "New Players" menu option on the signpost. On this page you click on "New" and on your desktop keyboard (or on the Pocket devices on a mini keyboard which pops up) write your name into the highlighted field. After you have finished, click again "New". This appoints the new player to be "active" You can also delete names and rename players. You have the option to visit from this screen with the "Setup" button the "Setting" screen, as you just would by clicking the "Setting" menu option on the signpost. And the ship wheel icon stands for our Knowledge Wheels. (We will speak about this later). Click "Back" and you will return to the signpost screen.
The name in red color is always the "active" player. In this pictoral illustration, John is the active player. You can choose any participant of the game to be "active". Just click on the name you would like to activate. This permits you to switch quickly from one player to another. Naturally, the whole Family can enjoy the game simultaneously, but just one player can move Aerobeak actively.

You can go directly from this screen to the "Setting" screen, by pushing in (click on) the "Setup" button. When the ship wheel icon is pressed, you are brought directly to the "Treasure Chest" screen. (Both "Setting" and "Treasure Chest" are menu options on the signpost)
Now choose the "Setting" (on the signpost or in the New Players screen) with the "Setting" button.

Player Name

It shows the name of the "active" player.

Difficulty level

Here you can choose which level of difficulty you would like to play: Kids, Youths, Adults. By default the game is set to the "Kids" difficulty level.

For example, if the difficulty level is set for "Kids" and you choose this option, during the entire game only logical puzzles will come up whenever Fufu the snake, PuffRuff the fish, or DiliBully the armadillo ask you a question.

When you choose the "Youths" or the "Adults" setting, a new sign will appear and ask you. "Your results will be discarded! Continue?" "Yes?" or "No?"

The setting will change depending on your answers. When you answer "Yes" the new setting will override the old one. Or when your answer is a "No" the old difficulty level setting stays.

Quiz

In both the "Youths" and "Adults" settings, you can choose between. "Logical" "Flags" or "General" quizzes. This means that when Fufu, PuffRuff or DiliBully ask a question, this could be a logical puzzle, a flag (involves all the flags of the world) or a written general knowledge question. You can choose one of them, two of them or all three together in any combination. The pushed in button shows which type of question you have chosen. For example, when the logical and flag buttons are pushed in, you get a mixture of questions from both, as well as logical puzzles and flag questions.

Volume

To adjust the "Volume" you can slide the cursor on the "Music" or "Effects" columns up or down until you reach your comfort level.

Direction

"Direction" is a very new option for games, especially for the Pocket environment. You can choose between right-handed and left-handed game options. This can make the game very enjoyable for everyone. After you have set up your settings, click on "Back".

Change Settings

When you choose the "Youths" or "Adults" setting (just as a reminder "Kids" setting is the default setting.), not just your Milestone Games are very different from the game for the kids, but the game becomes far more difficult and challenging. Actually with every setting the level of difficulty gradually increases.

Milestone Games

These are a kind of "game in game" an extra addition to the game. They are part of the game, but they are totally independent from the regular game screen. Also, there is not any kind of help available from the magical friends, as is in the game mode. While playing the Milestone Games, you do not see the regular game screen with the control bars. In the Ninth Island archipelago everybody has to face in every location different challenges at the magical Milestone check points. This is a tradition of the mysterious Ninth Island. Strangers, who enter this amazing world, have to prove their skills to the Wizards to proceed further into their enchanted territory.

In the "Kids" setting in the Milestone Games, the outline of a drawing appears and the participant needs to connect the dots to make sense of the drawing. When all the dots are connected correctly, a filled in colored drawing becomes visible and you can move forward. Otherwise, you have to begin at the same location again. Other challenges could appear at this level of difficulty. For example the participant gets multiple logical puzzles to solve.

In the "Youths" or "Adults" settings, the game is far more difficult and challenging. In the "Youths" or "Adults" settings, you do not get any "drawing" task, but you do get a "flag labyrinth" Milestone Game or a "multiple logical puzzle" Milestone Game.

Because the youth and adult Milestones Games created to perform randomly, you will never get the exact same game situation. The background of all Milestone Games symbolizes a whirl into a secret parallel universe, a pathway to the "Blue Star of Peace", which is the home planet of the archipelago.
In order for the magical characters of the Ninth Island to be able to find their way home, our human world would have to turn first into a peaceful planet without violence and hatred.

Be aware all Milestone Games have to be finished in a given time.
This time is shown in the form of a yellow bar that gradually shortens on the screen.

Click on "Start" on the signpost

Thus you will embark on an exciting journey, on a big ocean liner, guided by the magic of Neffy, the cuckoo bird. She will take you to the different locations and waits for you on the other side of the islands or the lagoons. During this voyage, many marvels, tons of fun and challenges are awaiting you. You have to be fast and clever to outsmart the wicked forces of the Ninth Island. You have to be able to solve the tasks of the Milestone Games or Aerobeak will tell you:

In that case you find yourself once more at the start of the last location to which Neffy took you.

The Locations

At the beginning is the Enchanted Isle. You have to navigate Aerobeak with the mouse or stylus carefully so that he does not bump into different obstacles, such as rocks or trees (here Aerobeak collects pineapples). He must avoid falling coconuts (every location has different falling object to avoid). Every obstacle could be a magical creature which could get back at you. Also, you have to accomplish the Milestone Games, answer the logical puzzles, flags or knowledge questions of the evil-spirited Fufu, the snake, and many more. On top of everything, you have do all this within a strict time limit.
You will face the same procedures on the Scorched Dragon's Isle of Fire (here Aerobeak collects legends which you can look up in the Knowledge Room of 9Isles' website) and on the Isle of the Whispering Wind (here Aerobeak collects friendship in the form of flower leis). On both of the latter locations there is not just Fufu, but also DiliBully who can get you into deep trouble. He is a kind of magical clown of the Ninth Island and all its territory. He loves to oust you from the game and have a good laugh about it. But he is just kidding!

In the depths of the Blue Coral Lagoon and of the Mystery Ship, PuffRuff, the puffer fish detains you with his annoying examinations. (In the second lagoon, Aerobeak collects keys, which are a symbol of the Knowledge of the Sea. You can look this up in the Knowledge Room in the 9Isles' website.)
Mostly PuffRuff doesn't want you to find out about the secrets of the "Mystery Ship". In both of the lagoons you have to be careful not to collide with the wondrous plants and creatures of the ocean floor, because this will cost you dearly and you can lose many points in this way.In the Ninth Island archipelago you must honor all living things. But watch out for DiliBully too as he just learned how to scuba dive!

Your Guide Neffy

Neffy is also your guide (she is the captain of the big ship) and tells you about your assignments that you have to finish on every one of the five locations. But be aware, at each new location you reach, these assignments will be harder. During the game, you collect points for every task that you solve and you get even more points when you finish your assignments more quickly. Also, task -solving and time - saving equally awards you with extra bonus points.

AeroOOOPS!

With so many dangers lurking everywhere and so many tasks to do, it is not surprising that Aerobeak sometimes loses his head and you have to face the consequences of his "AeroOOPS" attacks. I will not tell you exactly what that means, but during these mishaps it is really not easy to communicate with Aerobeak. He can be a clumsy, stubborn bird. You better get ready to make strange moves.

The Game Screen

At the top of the screen, you can track how many points and how many items you have collected (pineapples, legends, keys, flower leis) and how much time you still have left to play.
These controls are located on the upper bar on the screen.
On the bottom bar the "Menu" brings you to the signpost on the menu screen. The "magics" are your helpers. You also find a navigation help on the bottom bar. The map shows in white which location you already have visited.

The Helpers

Aerobeak could never accomplish all these tasks without the magical help of his friends, such as Theodore the Greek land turtle: He gives Aerobeak more time. Neffy with her power keeps away the nasty mystical creatures for a short time. And Pupulala, the wise old snail, with the help of her magical glasses, lends you a hand (in her case a tentacle) to answer the puzzles or questions. When you need assistance, just call on these friends of Aerobeak.

The buttons for your faithful helpers are located on the bottom bar of the game screen. When you first start the game, next to every helper icon is the number 1. You can collect more of these helpers by approaching the Tiki statues on land or the stone Tiki statues and the "lit up" shell in the lagoons.

By clicking once on the "turtle shield" icon, you will get the help of the magic power of Theodore in the form of one more minute of play time. When you are about to run out of time, in the last 10 seconds a "ticking sound" makes you aware of this. If you wait too long and click on the "turtle shield" at this time, you lose points.

By clicking on the "alpenhorn" icon, you ask for the miraculous power of Neffy, who is able to hold the wicked characters Fufu, PuffRuff and DiliBully for a minute. The length of this time will be shown on the screen.
When you are not able to answer a question, you just click on the "glasses" icon. This will call Pupulala to help you to answer the puzzles or questions.

Magical Recharge Stations

The magical powers of Neffy, Theodore and Pupulala are limited, but they can be recharged by the Magical Recharge Stations like the Tiki statues on land, the stone Tiki statues or the magical pearl shell man, Uhimomi, in the lagoons.

The Interactive Map

When you restart the game, you find yourself first on the Ninth Island archipelago magical interactive map. Explored isles are shown with a number in a white circle. You can restart your game on any of these isles. A white arrow marks your next level. Here every level has been played. So, you are able to restart in any already visited location. The clicked icons light up and you will hear a pleasant sound. On the next screen a text "Please wait" appears until the new location is loaded.

Knowledge Wheel

In some places in the game you are able to collect even more bonuses in the form of a Knowledge Wheel. During the game, when a Knowledge Wheel is collected, it serves as a kind of mystery e-voucher of the Ninth Island. It is stored automatically in your very own treasure chest.
This "Treasure Chest" is located also on the signpost.
When you click on the Knowledge Wheel to generate your code, the wheel begins to spin, and when you click it again, a number appears. Write down your generated numbers, because in the Knowledge Room of 9Isles' website, you can exchange these mystery coupons for a surprise, which may be a story or even a valuable gift. Be aware that every click decreases the number of the collected Knowledge Wheels and that the current code will be overwritten.

Let the Adventures Begin!
